Canned 1/26/21, a month release. I have never seen this around, or even in the brewery proper. Must have been a one-off. I am a big fan of coffee darks. It pours black with a mighty tall, brown-tan head. Small , quick bubble, much as a stout. The nose is extremely nutty, chestnut and hazel. A light to medium roast of coffee, not on the forefront. I do get loads of baked chocolate chip cookies from the malt. The palate is much the same, but with an incredible baked cookie aftertaste. There are hints of molasses and even vanilla- Seriously like no other. It is standard coffee stout of chocolate, then a blast of baked sweet cookie goodness. Silky smooth from the oats. Not overwhelming. This is an excellent tasting and feeling brew.
I had high hopes for Stemma's Oatmeal Stout, but this blew me away. It is actual chocolate chip cookies. There is a moderate amount of coffee, if you're into that (which I am) and the hops are rather low. It makes for a warming sweet and cozy sensation, like Grandmother's house. Spices are added modestly (vanilla and maybe clove?) I would drink this times over.
