Appearance: Served up a clear, dark golden-brown body with a whitish, thin head.
Smell: Richly bready, toasty. Small iota of dried herb. What a jip -- minimally smoked. Almost blink-and-you'll-miss-it light.
Taste: Sweetish malts, bready and toasty. A little dried herb hop hint. You keep mentally spurring on the smoke character -- c'mon, go go go -- but it never really does. Bummer.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-light carbonation.
Overall: I was pretty excited to see a rauchbier, though, holding back so much on its intoxicatingly, namesake smokey character, it comes across as pretty ho-hum.
