Appearance: Lightly hazy, light amber-gold body. Slim, whitish head.
Smell: Richly caramel-scented, charred oak and bourbon. Fairly strong barrel presence, even for second-use, leading to wonder if they 'refreshed' the barrels.
Taste: Sweetish flavor, oozing caramel glaze and toasted bread. Oak, coconut flake. Subdued tannins. Slightly alcohol presence. Given the restrained character of the base beer, it really just turns into Barrel-Beer.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-light carbonation.
Overall: It's nice enough, you know, if you're enjoying the barrel quality. However, it really kind of tramples the underlying beer. But, I guess they emptied out the doppelbock, figured it'd be a damn shame and waste of resources to toss the barrel or leave it sitting in the corner with a holding solution and needed to rack something in.
