Appearance: Dark brown, fluffy Khaki head with great retention.
Aroma: Roasted malt and chocolate notes.
Flavor & Aftertaste: Roasted malt prominent. Baker chocolate-like bitterness. Semi-sweet. Moderate bitterness.
Mouth-Feel: Light to medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Long dry finish with lingering bitterness.
Overall: This Schwarzbier leans toward the bitter side compared to others I've had. It does not lack flavor or character. It's bold and robust with dark roasted malt flavors. Exhibits a bakers chocolate like bitter sweetness, making it a little rough around the edges, not as smooth as some other. Lengthy finish with trailing bitterness. Would rate a little higher if it were a little more rounded. But still very good rendition. Drinkers who enjoy stout may really like this dark lager.
