Mrs Rover and I stopped by for beers and dinner. We really enjoyed it.
Located in what I believe was an old mercantile building, the restaurant/brewery takes up the first floor. I think they share ownership, but I am not 100% sure.
There is a long L shaped bar, lots of tables and an outdoor area to sit at. We chose the bar and received friendly service from our bartender.
They offered 5 or so regular beers and a few more rotating specials. The beers tend to be more traditional styles, but they do a good job on them. I had a solid, if lightly hopped Rye APA, a very good IPA and a tasty Scotch Ale. Mrs. Rover stuck to a couple of their IPAs.
The food was very good. I had a perfectly done steak that rivaled anything I can get at top end steak houses. Prices were very reasonable.
This is a nice small town and we stayed at an old school that has been converted to a boutique hotel.

the small town montana breweries keep on emerging, and it was a joy to get to bounce around to a number of them when i was in the state recently. this is a cool place, seems brand new to me, bigger and more modern than a lot of its peers, still western and charming, but very clean and new seeming, still woody and bricky and all, and of course with the obligatory branded vessel outside, its apparently in tandem with a restaurant that may be a separate business but fully functions as their taproom, there are no other beers on here, and the tanks are all visible from the bar and everything. they have a pub menu, a reasonable selection, and a nice little mellow ambiance here, cool space, roomy and occasion worthy, not a sports bar, but with a little of that channeled in for sure, some beer to go, its a great stop when passing through, and if i lived here, it would be problematic! it was super slow when i was in, but the service was still slow, slow to recognize me and say hello, slow to take my order, slow to run my card, all of it. maybe thats the pace of life here, and she was nice and informative and all, but man, it added a half hour to my visit for sure. i had two beers here, a modest list, but i liked an overly safe and generic rye pale, as well as a porter done with local coffee, both rather pro level brews. i had a burger for lunch and was lukewarm on it, they present almost a gastropub quality vibe, but my food wasnt at that level. it was good, but it wasnt anything more than that, not cooked quite right, and more expensive than it should have been. that said, it was a nice spot to stop in for lunch when on the road, and i enjoyed my time here, mellow and clean and friendly and with all the room in the world to run. i expect they will be more relevant in terms of overall montana craft beer before long. cool this town can support these guys and their mission...
