a good friend of mine is very fond of this beer and has been insisting i try it for ages, i have found it impossible to source in dublin, but it’s readily available in cork where i am now (a mere 40km from the brewery), this is a nice porter, the beer is black as night, one finger creamy tan coloured head with pretty decent retention, nose is milk chocolate and coffee, maybe just a hint of diacetyl, the beer itself is also very chocolatey, lot of coffee flavour, quite sweet, hint of fig and prune little bit of roasty toasty flavour, earthy, oaky, hint of marzipan maybe, medium bodied and lightly carbonated, creamy and thick but not that thick, all in all a decent to good porter, it lists among its ingredients “a lot of passion” and i don’t disagree, tá sé beoir go deas
