Pours a midnight black color with a short brown head. Settles into a light ring on the glass.
The aroma is sweet with dark fruit, prunes. Bourbon notes with vanilla and toasted coconut. Not much from the roasted barley.
The taste is of roasted barley and prune juice. Some bourbon and vanilla from the barrel. The beer needs much more from the barley/malt. It has too much of a prune/grape juice backbone.
Way too thin for a BBA stout. Doesn't feel like a stout at all. Sweet on the palate with tingly carbonation. A bit astringent in the finish.
This is a miss for a brewery that specializes on NE IPAs. The bourbon flavors are there but the base stout needs work. Drinks way too thin.
