Thin appearance for a porter, straddles the line between brown ale and a porter. Seemed possibly infected from the massive head but it died down rather quickly and that was the last sign of infection.
Aroma had an average amount of roast but a substandard amount of chocolate malt or coffee like impressions. Hops weren't at play in the nose either.
Taste really confirmed more of the brown ale comparisons. Brown malt, I dunno if that makes me think English yeast or what, but this was going down that path.
Was not a fan.

Lighter than average porter weak colored brown. Big head dissipated rather quickly. Adequate roast aroma coming from it, lacking any coffee or chocolate to it though.
A little more bitter than it should be, could be from the lack of a malt bill, too thin. Long hop boil, doesn't impart hops in the mouthfeel, but it does have bitterness.
This is as much in the mild brown ale tradition as a porter, in fact, probably owes more to a brown ale than a porter. At only $5 a 6er, its not even worth that.
I've been shooting the old bottle collection for over a year now. Packing up the house for a move, found these series of old notes to accompany the earlier shooting of said bottle. Nice to see this ol' blast from the past.
