Subversive Malting and Brewing has been the perfect getaway during the pandemic. They have a beautiful outdoor beer garden with plenty of seating and room to keep a safe distance! The beer selection is incredibly solid and keeps getting bigger! Try the new Saison, its amazing! There is also wood-fire pizza available some nights thats incredibly delicious! Highly recommend stopping by if you are anywhere near in the Hudson Valley or Catskill region!

I visited this brewery while staying with some friends in Saugerties. Easy to find the brewery with a large sign out front of the building. there are 6 parking spots in a small gravel lot, but also some on street parking spots on W Bridge and a few more around the corner.
The taproom has been open for about 6 or 7 months, so a new operation for sure.
Walking up there were signs for masks required and a small fenced area the delineated the outdoor beer garden area. There was a wood fired pizza oven in this area for ordering pizza with all locally sourced ingredients.
Probably 4 or 6 picnic table set ups outside for drinking and eating.
INside was an L shaped bar with sample cans and bottles of what is available to go. Brewery is visible through some glass windows and a large chalkboard depicts the drafts available. Beers available were some Saisons, an IPA, a lager, a pale ale, and an amber ale.
Oh and this is a malthouse too, so all grains are local and this has an impact on what recipes are brewed. This is a cool feature and really connects with the locavore crowd. But I do wonder if this could limit the style flexibility and diversity of beers that they will make?
Staff at the bar were friendly and filled my togo order quickly, the lager was sold out, so I got a grisette and the amber to take home.
I really enjoy the amber (Elemental Confluence) and will post a review of that beer soon.
I could see myself visiting again, next time to have a beer and relax, seemed like a chill spot, although the seating area is exposed to sun, each table had an umbrella so it would probably be fine.
Glad to have checked out this spot and hope it is still there next time Im in the area, worth a stop.

Small store front brewery on the main street, very much a locals hangout with friendly vibe. Bar to left of entry seats about 10 with a few table in the room. 8 beers on tap, the one I had was excellent. Fun atmosphere, very enjoyable visit.
