Like a sour demon summoned to scour, Johnny Flip Flops returns. Made with over 10 lbs per barrel of key lime is rounded by a mellow sweetness. As our tribute to the man himself, a portion of proceeds go directly to animal welfare organizations.

It’s been a while since I’ve had anything new from Four Phantoms, and even longer since I had the OG Johnny Flip Flops which I enjoyed a lot. This one is based off of a mojito, one of my favorite cocktails, so I’m excited to see how the mint plays off the tartness of the style. Let’s find out
Pours a cloudy yellow gold with 2 fingers of white head that fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing
There’s not much of anything going on in the nose for this one, though the simplicity works here. I’m picking up on aromas of lime juice, crackery malt, graham cracker, and light mint
While I find myself enjoying what the mint does here, it seems a bit out of balance. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting tart lime, mint, doughy malt, and light vanilla. The swallow brings notes of mint ice cream, vanilla, mild lime, and crackery malt. It’s pretty good but I think it needs more acidity on the back end
A light medium body pairs with moderate prickly carbonation, resulting in a crisp beer. Finishes neutral and a bit sweet
This was pretty good, but doesn’t even come close to the original. A fun little experimental beer
