Taster flight at Wild River. Golden pour, small cap of white foamy head. Malty aroma, grainy. taste is also malty and grainy, and kind of stays there. Any crisp finish peters out long before you get there.

Medium light gold look. Bright, light toast, caramelized malt, a bit of yeastiness and light touch of noble (floral) hops, and whiff of allspice in the aroma. Really true to the style, lightly toasted barley malt, a touch of yeastiness and a light amount of noble hops, but enough to have a lighter pilsner hop presence and finish. Well done.

On tap at the brewpub in Grants Pass OR. 4.7% ABV.

Pour was very pale golden, clear with a very good head and lacing.

Aroma: lightly sweet baked bread.

Flavor: mild noble hops become more obvious in the lingering finish and aftertaste.

Feel: lively carbonation goes well with the light body. Semi-dry.

O: very nice version of style with a light bump up on the hops.

Nice looking brewpub... Nice people... I picked this up at the Grants Pass location. Pours clear lite golden with a thin white head... no lacing ... no cap.

The nose is grainy pale malt and an interesting fruitiness.. No real hops to speak of.. probably too much maltiness for the style.

Bready maltiness.. for the style, a bit too much apple essence.. decent malt profile.. a bit minerally..

Really.. This one is walking a razor edge.. "a bit too much of this, a bit too little of another".. really, it is damn good..

All 4's... No doubt "American", but still very well done and very fresh.

On-tap at the Wild River restaurant in Grants Pass, OR.

Pours a very pale yellow colour, with very little head. What's there is white, fine, bubbly and inconsistent. Lace forms in tiny vertical streaks. Fine bubbles of carbonation. It's OK, no better than that.

Nose is very light. Mild, with some lightly sweet grains, and a clean carbonation cutting through it slightly. It's light and clean, but quite dull.

Taste is sharper (in fact, my notes read "pointy"), with slightly biting German phenolics on the back. The brunt of it is a mild husky grain character, but mostly, it's just light and inoffensive. Feel is crisp, with some effervescence on the tongue.

It's not going to surprise you, but it's solid. Dull, unquestionably dull, but solid. On a hot day in Grants Pass, it went down nicely.

A: Very clear straw with white head that collapses slowly.

S: Neutral, bit grainy.

T: Also neutral . . . slight woody malt with med to high hop bitterness. Rough finish with some ethanol poking out. Just very pedestrian gold beer for the masses.

M: Medium bodied with high CO2

D: Medium die to rough finish, taste like straight US 2-row.

Light, dry, clean, refreshing, and infused with lively carbonation, this ghostly pale yellow brew is an enjoyable summer crossover beer. It scores well for good head retention and its clean, dry refreshment value. Good thing I gave this one a second chance as my first try was lifeless and indistinct. Winner of the 1997 GABF Gold Medal for a kölsch-style ale.

The bottle says, "Colgne-style very pale beer. Dry and lightly-hopped, a refined and delicate drink". It was light golden in color with hardly any foam. Lightly hopped with a hint of bitterness. A very smooth and pleasant tasting pale ale. This is also knowned as "Harbor Lights".
