Dark brown with ruby highlights, mild aromas of chocolate and grain, a semi-sweet palate with notes of roasted malt, and a rounded finish. A flavorful beer but low in both calories and alcohol. It is our version of an English Brown Ale and was awarded a Silver Medal in that category at 1992's Great American Beer Festival, our country's only national beer competition.

12oz picked up at the pub in Grants Pass... Pours with a thin tannish head... the brew is clear lite walnut..
The nose is very nutty... I would guess Aromatic, Victory, and some sort of Belgian Brown malt... very nutty.. not sweet at all.
Flavor pretty much mirrors the nose.... a very background dark fruitiness...
I would never put this in the altbier category.. maybe a Northern England brown... Think of it as a bigger Newcastle with no apologies.

From a 12 oz bottle purchased from the brewpub, this was light brown with a small white head that was gone quickly, and with a nose of light chocolate and caramel malts. Medium mouthfeel. Nutty flavor but with some odd overtones, and not much finish.

Built on a strange profusion of malts that work together well, Wild River's Nut Brown Ale begins with an unusual aroma of caramel and cherry syrup. The taste is reserved with neither a great measure of flavor nor any misguided flaws. It is gently sweet and slightly nutty with the flavors of cola, caramel, and brown malt on a light bodied ale with modest bittering. It is root beer colored in some light, but deep bloody red upon closer inspection.
Modest but clean. No, it doesn't go with pizza. But what the hell.

Dark brown in color with a slight malty taste. Served a little to chilled. Really to chilled to ge a true flavor I thought at the time. Waited to warm up, but not a lot of change. No bitterness with a short finish. Not a lot of taste either!
