Our master brewer’s favourite, this one is for the witbier appreciator. We improved the traditional Belgian beer style by adding notes of mandarin and garden herbs and created a beer for the exploratory mind. The result is Witty Bea, an extremely refreshing and easy drinking beer that is aromatic and flavourful, a perfect match for spicy food.
Try with a slice of orange or lemon or a dash of lemonade.

This falls into one those categories that's hard to nail down. The [English] brewery call this a Witbier, does one create a new category for what's perhaps a micro-niche style? ... I chose not to, and decided the style of a German Weizenbock was close enough. If others more informed than me disagree, I'd be happy if they seek to have it recategorised for accuracy.
From my tasting notes:
Witty Bea 5.0% ‘Witbier – with notes of mandarin and garden herbs’
Bottled: 15-Feb-2019, BB: Feb-2021 Unpasteurised/unfiltered, store and open carefully.
L- Very cloudy even stored/poured carefully, orange/gold, pours with 5mm white head. 3/5
S- Somewhat woody with some a distinct but hard to divine fruity note. 3/5
T- A little sharp, some pungent hops, a waft of broad fruity notes, there’s something of a perfumed citrus to this. 2.75/5
M- Bright tasting, some zest and prominent floral/fruit hops. Lable suggests it goes with spicy food and I can believe that. 2.75/5
O- Ingredients show it is made with mandarin, rosemary and mint. Mandarin I get, and I get herbs but they’re subtle enough to me I couldn’t have ID’d them. Brewed using corn sugar, hmmm IME that’s not something I associate with quality beer. 2.5/5
Unlabelled pint bottle, comes in paper wrapper giving expansive room for brewery info/notes.
500ml for £3.95. Bought from TEARDROP BAR LIMITED ∙ +44 7970 272617 ∙ [email protected] ∙ Unit 22, The Covered Market Market Street Oxford, OX13DZ Lively bottle, store/chill/pour carefully. Trad brown bottle comes in paper wrapper that gives much detail and background.
