DATE: November 23, 2023... OCCASION: Thanksgiving celebration in our wake, the fam still visits for the next few days--time to enjoy some local offerings!... GLASSWARE: nonick... a day-old crowler pours a jet-black body supports a tan, two-fingered clump of head that laces into an uneven settle... strong coffee aroma, coupled with toasted malts, spicy rye, and hints of lactose... alluring, even at 10pm... the character is clear in the sip, a textured, coffee-like mouthfeel that is chewy and solid, finishing with easy heat and some sugary softness... this is substantial but fair at 6.2% ABV.... coffee, yes, and some rye, with only a trace of cocoa... plum and slight smokiness finish with lasting flavor... this is one I would revisit, a strong punch for its weight.... nice work, Chilton Mill!
