Copenhagen 19/2 2022. 33 cl waxed and capped bottle from Mikkeller web-shop. Green label with a purple hand holding a flower.
Pours opaque dark brown with a small dark beige head. Settles as thin layer of foam stretching to cover the surface of the beer.
Aroma is intense with a dark, malty sweet odor meeting dark alcohol. Dark roasted malts, chocolate, lactose and toffee. Dark cognac.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, soft, tingling texture.
Flavor is intense with a strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter dark chocolate with a boozy streak. Lingering. Searing. Finish is rather dry.
Another potent barrel boozer from Blackout. Gentle as a Geisha armed with throwing stars.

Imperial coffee stout made with geisha coffee and aged in cognac barrels. Pour is moderately thick with minimal carbonation in evidence. Fudgy chocolate and some earthy coffee notes on the nose; the cognac shows up on the palate with some fruity contrasts, vanilla and cherry with light tartness. I really like the interplay between the coffee and spirits, which has modest oak character but gives an overall impression of a very nice cascara tea on top of the coffee itself.
