Pondaseta Brewing Company

Modern freestanding commercial building on the southwest side of town. Small taproom with straight bar opposite the entrance that seats about 7 with a few tables about the room. Additional room to the left has more seating. 24 beers on tap, single cans to go. Friendly bartender. I did not try the food.

Standalone building in the southwest section of town. Small adjoining parking lot. Cinderblock walls, high beamed ceiling, and a concrete floor. Main room with the taps has a divided bar with six or seven seats. Small alcove room next to the restrooms. Low oak plank topped tables. Through an interior room is another room with high top tables and stools, garage doors on the north and south sides, and an open view of the brewing equipment behind a long counter. Outdoor patio on the north side. More than twenty taps with a good selection of styles. Cooler has cans to go. Prompt and friendly staff. More than a mile from the interstate highway but easy enough to get to on wide city streets. Good sound system and a lively crowd.

 

From Notes: I traveled there on my way back after dropping my kid off for the summer. I spent the night at a rest stop and doing my favorite thing trolling the internet for beer places to soak my liver in. I noticed this place had an Independent review from a magazine for a pilsner, Crispy Ship. Only thing was it opened at 11 and I was an hour away. I got on the road about 9 and heading into Amarillo, perusing the liquor stores for anything tasty that I already did not own. 11 o'clock came and I headed to the brewery. I was the second on there, damn these Texans like their watering holes. Two gentlemen behind the bar engaged me and we had a great conversation and a few beers to sip. The atmosphere was great and services was great. I would love to go back, and spend a day sipping and bsing. I left with a few cases of beer and smile on my face. Wonderful brewery!

 

 

Pondaseta is a enjoyable brewery with a welcoming taproom- indoor and outdoor seating. The bartender could hardly been more nice to us out-of-towners. He helps us select a beer from the 15 on tap. We didn't have an pizza from the food truck but everyone around us seemed to delight in it. The Covfefe and Meister Weizen are a must on you next visit.
