L: Poured from a bottle to a mug. Had an orange / brown color and a mostly cloudy consistency. There was a two inch foamy / fizzy, somewhat long-lasting head. Excellent lacing.
S: A very good aroma of malt, molasses, citrus fruit, and sweet potatoes.
T: Tasted of a bit of molasses (kind of sweet), a little bit of smoke (mostly in the finish; not a huge factor), lots of malt (present throughout, though subtle), some light citrus fruit (orange, in particular), some sweet potatoes), and a little brown sugar. This is a solid, surprisingly light and effervescent flavor. Not overly smoky, but oddly dynamic. Tasty stuff.
F: A decent amount of carbonation with a sharp finish. Medium-bodied.
O: An interesting and well done take on a märzen. Worth a try.

Pours a beautiful reddish brown. My girlfriend says it is "root beer" or "burnt caramel." I get a little bit of baked sweet potato on the nose. It's sweet, like molassesy sweet. I was expecting more smoke, but it's subtle and upon re-reading the description, I realize the malts themselves aren't smoked. I'm not sure I would have said this was a Märzen based off taste. It is very much like a dunkel, owing in large part to that smoked sweet potato. I am not getting as much sage, nor am I getting the puncheon. Overall, this is a nice beer.
