Like the base beer, it pours a dark brown with light tan head. Maybe a little more alcohol tears on the glass as I swirl it. Nose is roasted almonds, chocolate covered cherryies - it is much more fragrant than the base beer. That chocolate covered cherry carries through, a little tart, nuttiness, retains some of the dryness of the base beer, it’s not overly sweet. The cherries and bourbon barrels do add a layer of complexity that makes it more interesting to drink. I did not expect to like this that much more than the base beer but I did. I even liked the subdued cherry tartness as it did not overwhelm the beer.
