From tasting notes 9-17-11
Poured into a snifter

Appearance: Hazy straw pour with a very foamy white head that settles surprisingly slowly and leaves a delicate but full lacing behind.

Smell: Very fresh citrus immediately hits the nose smelling of fresh lemons and orange zest. There is a bit of a wheat aroma, some pine, and more fresh squeezed lemons. Absolutely inviting.

Taste: The taste was not as vibrant as the nose, but it was still a nice blend of wheat, citrus (especially lemon), and yeast. Definitely better than the average run of the mill wheat beer, but certainly nothing mind-blowing.

Mouthfeel: Light body, medium to high carbonation, very crisp and a nice, refreshing finish. Again, nothing too impressive--about average for a wheat beer in my book.

Overall: This was a nice wheat beer on the whole, and although there are certainly better ones our there, this is still a good brew worthy of a try.

A: Pours a cloudy very pale straw-like color. Looks a sweet lemonade. Provides a fluffy light 2 finger foam head with modedrate retention. There is plenty of lacing down the sides.

S: Very light on the nose. Some lemon zest, wet grains, wheat and straw.

T: Starts off really iight. There is some lemon zest up front. In the middle, there is some mild wet straw and grains. On the backend, there is more of the same with some wheat coming through more and more.

M: This is an extremely light bodied beer that comes across very thin. Not as clean and refreshing as you would expect from a Hefeweizen.

O: Overall this is not a Hefeweizen I would reach for. The flavor is not as clean and refreshing as you would expect.

A- pours a hazy yellow with a tiny cap and no lace.

S- really not much. grass, lemon, wheat, not much else.

t- like the nose, not much going on. It's definetly pleasent, but not exciting at all. It's watery, but I gave it mouthfeel points because it is really refreshing.

O- some pepper or tart acid could have made this like a saison-like summer ale. Some banana or clove could have made this more like a hefe. Instead it is kind of just stuck in beer limbo, as a wheaty, watery thirst quencher.

Overall, one of the better wheat beers available in the USA. A great beer to drink on one of our scorching, 100 degree, humid summer days. Really slakes your thirst!

Part of the Beer of the Month gift club - thank you! :o)

A: cloudy, yeasty golden lemon color. Nice thin head, smallish carbonation.

S: Fresh grass, hops, grainy/wheaty smell.

T: clean, fresh wheat beer! Overwhelming taste of clean water, hops and wheat. VERY, very refreshing. Tastes better than it smells! This is one fine wheat beer!

M: very nice, wet, wheat beer.

O: A fantastic wheaty! Very impressed with this beer and wasn't expecting that - nice to get nice surprises. Only Michigan Brewing and Harpoon seem to have perfected this underapprecaited necessary American summer treat. Rather have this than ice cream in the summer. HIGHLY recommended! Nice job on this beer.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass

A - cloudy pale yellow, a little sickly looking as the light comes through, a bright white head that leaves a ton of lacing on the glass

S - Not a ton of aroma, cheerios and a hint of citrus, like lemon pledge

T - not much here either, biscuit and cereal grain flavors with a little bit of mellow sweetness, no real hop character and no levels going on, no aftertaste which I guess is good

M - high carbonation, clean feel but almost too harsh, scrubbing the mouth

O - I guess this was "refreshing" in a cold beverage kinda way, but I would not have another.

Pours a light straw yellow, about what I would expect for a hefeweizen with a massive head that left heavy lacing.

Aroma of light orange, some just barely there clove, and some wheat malt.

Taste is just like the aroma. This is definitely not a beer I would seek out, I would even say I would prefer a Circus Boy from Magic Hat over this Hefe. Medium to high carbonation, light body and uninspiring flavors. Relatively clean tasting, but nothing out of the ordinary. Easily drinkable

A - Mild yellow hazy pour with a 1-finger white head an decent lacing

S - Has a wheaty backbone with a pretty prominent spice character semi-reminiscent of belgian brews

T - Very similar to the scent, but the spice notes seem to be muted in the flavor

M - Thin and crisp with moderate carbonation

O - It's a decent hefeweizen, but nothing I would go out of my way to introduce others to. If the flavor matched the scent a little bit more I think it would definitely be a much more interesting beer.

The beer is a light golden yellow with a large head that has good retention and lacing with medium to high carbonation. The smell is of cloves, spices, yeast, wheat, and lemon. The taste is of yeast and wheat at first and than taste some citrus, spices, followed by some cloves and a banana finish to it. The mouthfeel is a light bodied that doesn't stay in the mouth, but goes goes very very easily. This is a decent beer for people that like a clean, crisp beer with a little bit of a banana, clove, and light citrus taste with no bitterness or aftertaste.

A- Light yellow with little head that goes away quickly.

S- Wheat malts, a little hop and clove scent.

T- Bready-yeasty flavor, nothing spectacular at all. Little hop bitterness on the finish but no flavor. A somewhat citrus-sour finish.

M- Crisp, thin bodied beer, pretty high carbonation.

D- Not impressed at all by this one, seems like MBC just wanted to make a generic wheat beer, do not plan on buying this one again.

Looks like a glass of grapefruit juice with the thickest head I've ever seen.

Lots of spices in the nose...clove, all-spice; would think I was drinking something from Belgium.

Major head retention and lots of goodness at the bottom of the bottle. Has a nice flavor from the spices, evened out by the wheat.

Extremely cleansing mouthfeel, lots of carbonation.

Not sure I could drink this in the cold, but a good beer for the summer months.

This WAS a pretty good, although variable, Bavarian Hefeweizen --until around 2008, that is, when MBC decided it was not selling enough and turned it into another dull "American" wheat beer. Too bad, considering how many unremarkable light beers MBC already offers.

Went to Webberville today to try some brews!

Appearance: average Cloudy, Golden color, not too watery looking, not too thick. Nothing special

Smell: Light, airy smell, lots of hops and lots of Cloves

taste: Not a strong bitterness, somewhat tart, but only initially. Bread-like because of the yeast. Went well with Burger

Mouthfeel: thin, but not watery, not a strong aftertaste

Drinkability: excellent, not to much alcohol, right amount of bitterness
