Big thanks to Jimmy Two Hands for hauling this back from MBC.
Pours from a bomber into a 22 oz. glass. Very dark color, with quite a bit of suspended light colored yeast clumps. Mahoghany with reddish ends at the top where light gets through. Murky. Lace is spotty but it looks nice.
Bready malt with some sugar cookie and floral notes. Fairly muted and not what i'd expect from a Rye Beer, let alone an IPA. Taste is very malty up front with some residual coffee and citrus. Residual citrusy hop bitterness that also seems subdued. Sort of a dried candied orange in the background. Medium bodied, didn't mind the sediment, it probably added some heft to it. It was quaffable and pretty good. More of a dark rye beer with extra hoppage.
