I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery in Twin Falls, Idaho location as part of a five sample flight. It poured an opaque dark with thin ecru head which did not leave lace. The beer was nicely balanced and easy to drink. The mouthfeel was fuller in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

Draft at the Handlebar. Dark brown pour, fairly flat and still. Light woody, roasty notes in the aroma. Taste is more roast, nutty, woody. Nothing out of the ordinary, but a solid porter.

somewhere between english and american in terms of style, at least to my tastes, it definitely has a bit of an english malt profile to me, more nuanced and layered than most american types, but the yeast profile is pretty minimal on the other hand, hops are light if there at all, so it kind of goes back and forth, but its sturdy and well made and really nice for this time of year, one of the more refined beers i have had from these guys to date. it doesnt have much of a head from the tap, and what is there settles fast, but it has a sexy shine and rich look, and the aroma and flavors are great. i get a lot of dark chocolate, a hint of sweet licorice and some bitter roast to balance. dark and strong drip coffee, some maris otter sort of english crystal sweetness, and wet tobacco, its relatively complex on the grain side as they go, which is cool and its really smooth when i drink it, almost too light on the carbonation but it highlights the silky texture of the beer, and i dont miss it. the finish is a little long, either needs a little more bitter roast from the grain or to be fermented down a little drier, it gets heavy because its a touch sweet, but its hearty and good for winter, and its close to being next level. i like the relative complexity here, but also the simple nature of the beer overall, and i think these guys have really turned a corner in terms of quality. great beer for the fall here.
