Taster at brewery. Dark brown pour, a few bubbles make up the head. Malty aroma, light smoky notes, some peat. Taste is sweet, brown sugar, nutty.Typical to the winter warmer style.

they use a whole heap of cool darker malts in this, less of the unmalted roasted barley it seems, but uniquely developed slow cooked grains from the depths, really nicely constructed, and the coolest part of this is that its a winter warmer that isnt spiced. so rare are these, cinnamon and vanilla and clove usually take over, this might not have any spices in it at all, awesome! its darker than a brown in a glass, lighter than their porter, and holds a very short but lasting and well tempered cream head. its got subtle tobacco and raisin notes to it, but its neither tarry or sweet, some cocoa and some minerals and some yeast character but a cleaner fermentation profile overall, especially for these guys who have not always achieved that in the past. molasses and licorice notes, medium to full bodied, round and bouncy feeling, more bubbly than this style usually is, and go figure, the spice isnt missing from it! this seems like a nice recipe thats been well executed and appears to me to make sense from about halloween to valentines day, cold weather but not a one and done. im excited about the beer in here, it keeps getting better, and all the new ones are good! big but drinkable too, very solid!
