"Hybrid red ale." "Chocolate red ale."
Served on-draught @ the brewery.
Chocolatey caramel sweetness jostles with toasty Amber malt to good effect, with subsidiary notes of treacle, cherry, and stonefruit. I do wish more of the toasty bread crust-redolent malt character surfaced, but it's a well-balanced ale with nice depth of flavour that's going for something different than your typical overhopped Amber ale.
Could be more complex. I could see herbal hop character really playing nicely with what's already in place.
Coating and medium-bodied yet not unrefreshing. Smooth, wet, well-carbonated. More a winter sipper to me - this isn't a beer I'd want to quaff in the Texas heat.
If a maltier take on an amber ale is what you're after, then this is for you.
