1929 Kolsch is clear and one of the palest lagers I've seen in a while. The head is rocky, bone white, and has decent enough retention.
The aroma is soft, bready in its maltiness and slightly on the dry side. Hints of sweetness balance out the nose's dry points. Hints of green apple come through in the center. The finish is short and clipped, with only a hint of earthy European hops.
On the tongue, 1929 is smooth and crisp. Up front malty sweetness starts of slightly bready in nature before moving into slight juiciness and hints of granny smith apple. The center is nicely rounded, helping give the flavors a nice balance and a smoothness in the mouthfeel. The finish is short and dry with just enough European hop to balance out the rest of the beer.
This is tasty, crisp, and refreshing. The flavors are delicate and understated, as is the aroma. 1929 Kolsch comes together as a light and very refreshing summer beverage. What I like most is how this kolsch is light and refreshing and can still have flavor and character.
