The Growlery’s contribution to Edmonton’s 2024 Wyrd Bier Adventure. I do like a good Altbier, and not opposed to spiced-pumpkin beers (sweet potato more or less the same right?).
Pours a dark reddish brown/mahogany colour - clear - with finger of fine bubbly tan head.
The aroma is that of a pumpkin spice beer - cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice (could I guess that is sweet potato - no); some brown sugar and a hint of maple.
Taste follows with grainy malt sweetness - brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice - cinnamon, nutmeg - again hint of maple, but with a definite floral and spicy hop kick and a little earthy bitterness
Light medium mouthfeel with above average carbonation and a sweet and spicy hop finish.
