On tap at brewery (a few times) here in Edmonton, and a 1 L howler home.
Pours a clear amber copper colour with 2 fingers just off white head.
Aroma malty - caramel, fresh bread, slight hints of honey, very mildly floral.
Smooth taste - caramel malt sweetness, date, honey, and just a very fine touch of hop - very light bittering, but the malty sweetness carries.
Medium mouthfeel - bright carbonation - smooth and creamy - maltiness lingers over slight hop bitterness.
Had back to back days with the gold standard Festbier - Ayinger's Oktober Fest-Marzen and this stands up to it very nicely.
