A Landbier can be a bit of a surprise if you've never had one before. I remember the same question in my mind forming the first time I had a sour beer, "Did this beer go bad?" While I still haven't acquired a taste for sours I do like Landbier and this particular Landbier is a good one to start off with. Overall it delivers the characteristics of a Landbier but goes down smoothly. An enjoyable drink.
It looks a little dark but has a low glow, sort of like a touch of dark rust on an old car. Pleasant. And the head has nice hearty bubbles that stick around after the pour.
The smell is easy and light. Sort of like smelling freshly tilled soil blowing from a few dozen meters away. It doesn't put off and is light enough that you don't know what to expect with your first sip.
Its a light feel at first that thickens particularly on the back of your tongue and roof of your mouth. No full mouth feel with this beer.
The taste is slightly toasted and faintly sweet. It tastes old like a cellar might smell old. Still the drink is smooth while interesting at the same time.
Give it a shot then eventually, you can move into a Landbier that tastes like you are licking the cellar floor instead of just smelling it... in the best way possible.

From the bottle, it pours a slightly hazy amber with a large just-off-white head that sticks around and leaves lacing. In the nose, it is bready with a touch of caramel malt. In the mouth, it is the same. A nice Landbier!

L:
-pours a hazy golden-amber with a medium to big, foamy, offwhite head
-medium carbonation visible
S:
-malty,spicy,sweet,cookie dough,milky,honey
T:
-apple,malty,cookie dough,spicy,honey
F:
-medium carbonation
-light to medium body
O:
2nd Beer of their "unfiltered" release.
I think it's quite a bit better than the Kellerbier.Malty and sweet, something for Hefeweizen lovers.
Now on to the Dunkel....
