Pours a cloudy, deep, dark amber, brown'ish coloration with a small, fizzy head. Smell is dominated by sweet caramel malt and lighter notes of tropical hops passion fruit, pineapple, as well as just a hint of pine. Taste is a great balance of sweet'ish caramel malt and vibrant tropical/citrus hops, with notes of passion fruit, pineapple, grapefruit and pine, with the pineapple standing out particularly. Finishes with a strong bitterness, light hop bite and some pineapple and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium/rich body and medium carbonation.
Quite a nice Double West Coast 'ish IPA that offers an excellent balance of caramel malt and bitter, piney hops, with the tropical notes, especially the pineapple, really standing out, perhaps a bit more than is typical for the style actually. Still an exceptionally enjoyable beer in its own right though, with quite a nice, full mouthfeel as well.
