another well executed german style from these guys, who have these down pretty well in my experience. its a cool beer, fresh as can be, way more than the imports ever are, and that alone makes this a winner in my book. its paler than anticipated, deep bronze colored, with a nice tall almost pure white head from the tap and remarkable clarity. the aroma and flavor are identical, fully malt driven but far from one dimensional. some nice toasted and nutty aspects of the grain, a honey and even maple syrup sweetness, but overall this isnt sugary, and there is enough nuance for it to appear balanced. some almond or possibly even raw cashew earthiness to this, a cool bready yeast note, obviously a lager which i like these to demonstrate, and with some light noble hops to help it finish. the body is only medium, and there is a cleanness about this even though its off dry, aided by a neat mineral or water profile, this is very well refined really, and quite drinkable as they go. the fermentation is just right on this, and that really matters a lot in the style. well done, this is a very nicely crafted bock that i would be happy to drink just about any time. the beers were all well above average in here, check it out if you havent yet!
