Sour Pants

a really super simple berliner here, basic as they come, this was their rotating tap when i was in recently, and by far the weakest of their beers i had there. the server didnt call it sour pants, just berliner, but i assume its the same beer, they dont make more than one i dont think. these guys have come a long way with their beers since they opened and i was stoked on just about all of them, but this left a little to be desired, it maybe wasnt all that fresh when i had it, but it has a sort of cheesy funk to it that goes beyond a lactic kettle souring in a bad way, its not clean like the souring in their pineapple passion fruit sour, which i thought was expert in that regard, perhaps they learned from this one, like it was a test for that or something. its not overly sour, and i can still taste the wheat, and there is definitely a lemony property inherent in it, all of that is good, but its also got dirty socks and powdered cheese and slight compost character, not gross or undrinkable, but even a small pour was more than i wanted, and this is kind of sloppy in comparison to the rest of their lineup. based on how good everything else has gotten here, i suspect they will get this tidied up the next time around, but it was a little rough for me this time...
