solid pils here, a little more body and malt flavor than many, unexotic but good, the first new one i have had from these guys in ages, you dont really see their stuff on tap around boise as much as you used to, so this was a welcome sight. good clarity, radiant golden color, lasting inch of white head with some loose lace as it drinks, a fine looking pint. aroma is bready but crisp, nice malt character, good minerality too, ever so slightly german to me, less of that from the lager yeast, as well lagered as this is, its relatively neutral there, so the grain gives it its european bent, classic but well restrained hop complexion, balanced and fresh, a little doughy but also kind of toasted, just a touch more hearty than most, which im good with, especially for winter drinking. the flavor is about the same as the nose, well proportioned with good contribution from all the elements but with the grain in the lead. the hops are all late, fresh and maybe a tad peppery, some bitterness on the swallow and a little noble character to the recall, but again, not the defining element of this, adds good snap. the carbonation is lovely, high the whole way, feels fantastic, very tidy and cold and professionally fermented, patiently done, this is technically very good. light mid palate sweetness, refreshing for being a little fuller for the style though, and overall a nice take on pils and an excellent pizza beer!
