Served from the tap in a taster glass at the Cercis brewpub.
Pours a deep midnight hickory topped by a finger of sandstone foam. The nose comprises mild roast, a touch of coffee, toasted rye bread, grass, and a hint of baker's chocolate. The taste brings in more of the same, the inherent bitterness of the aforementioned components coming to the fore, with little of the actual maltiness of the style left to enjoy. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. Not a great porter, to my tongue, as it's too bitter, barely malty, and too thin to really work for me.
