Copenhagen 29/1 2023. 33 cl bottle from Craft Makers Collective. Dark green version of Åben’s usual split label.
Pours opaque dark brown with a small beige head. Settles as thin but unbroken layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with a prominent presence of dark alcohol. Dark malts, brown sugar and toffee. The scent of whisky is overpowering most other impressions.
Low carbonation. Thick, oily, soft, smooth, flat texture.
Flavor is intense with a strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a pronounced boozy undertone. A bit searing. Lingering. Finish is sweet alcohol.
Potent and rich and dominated by the barrel maturing. Not much sign of the Basil.
