Kenosha Brewing Company

The vibe was different, it was a late afternoon on Easter, and a full mariachi band was playing. That was cool. The building itself is barn like, and it was adjacent to an actual old barn. Back in the ancient craft beer days of the early 90's, this place was Brewmasters brewpub, the first brewpub in the state of Wisconsin (founded 1987). It was also popular with homebrew clubs and the late Michael Jackson even stopped through a few times.

The kitchen was closed for the holiday, and the bar was open so I stopped for a quick flight and sixer to go. Decor was rustic and a little dated. Restrooms had very fancy sinks, but needed some structural work. Lots of old barn features like paddock doors and sliding rail doors.

Beers were average, pretty basic styles. The amber ale was alright, as was a fruited sour ale. Not much to write home about, just okay. Lots of guest drafts to round out the selection.

Barkeep was friendly and chatty, and confirmed some of the historical trivia about the place. Overall it was alright, but likely a one-and-done for me.
