This Czech Dark Lager balances a bright crispy Pilsner base with notes of pale chocolate, flaky biscuit, and light evergreen.

A perfusion of fine carbonation rapidly rises in a swarming column from the base of a Libby Pilsner class. The lager is almost clear, rusty copper (SRM 13-15), with an almond head that forms a dense 3" cap. A thick coating of lace leaves the impression of a hollow head.
Fresh hops initially burst out, then quickly pass, revealing =ich toasted malt. Mild coffee and nut shells fill the middle. Warmth allows wheat bread and faint smoke to be noticeable.
A mild malt bitterness is followed in equal part by sweetness. It is very malty, although less toast than the aroma had suggested. Cold black coffee is mild. The finish is long and modest, with a metallic flavor and astringency. Again, warming allows wheat bread and smoke, neither very strong.
A medium to light body, and surprisingly dry. The texture is similar to sticky pleather on a humid summer afternoon. Alcohol is no surprise, carbonation is soft.
This is a decent drinking beer, and I suspect it would pair will with smoked bratwurst.
