Slight chocolate aroma with a clean, malty flavor and a red/amber color. At 5.9% ABV and 19 IBU's this is a smooth, easy drinking ale to enjoy over and over.
Why is it named McCoy's Irish Red?
The president of Rockpit, Jeremy Pittman, is a direct descendant of Anderson "Preacher Anse" Hatfield. He was the Justice of the peace that presided over the "Hog Trial" which lit a match in the famous Hatfield / McCoy feud.
Because they finally buried the hatchet after a brutal feud, we wanted to pay homage to the McCoy's Irish heritage. William, the patriarch of the McCoy clan was born in 1750 in Ireland.
This beer celebrates how the two families were able to come together and resolve their differences and live in peace. Something we all need a bit more of.
