Poured from a 32 ounce can filled in my presence at the brewery today into a tulip glass at 54.7 degrees F.
Appearance- Deep brown, opaque, light brown frothy head, average head retention, above average lacing.
Aroma- Roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, weak strength of scent.
Flavor- Chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, moderately sweet, between medium and high strength of flavor.
Mouthfeel- Medium body, average carbonation, moderately creamy, moderately bitter, moderately sweet, mildly mouth warming, mildly mouth coating.
Overall- Deep brown and opaque with average head retention and above average lacing. The bouquet was a mix of roasted malt with some specific notes of chocolate and coffee, but the intensity was weak. The flavor was a medium-high intensity mix of the same roasted malt character with chocolate and coffee notes very prevalent. Mouthfeel consisted of medium body with moderate bitterness, sweetness and creaminess. The mouth warming and coating properties were on the lower end of the spectrum. Overall, this beer had underpowered aromatics, but that is my only complaint. Every other category came in above average. The flavor wasn't complex but had plenty of intensity with a very pleasant and balanced mix of chocolate, coffee and other roasted malt character resulting in a rock-solid beer.

Very dark appearance with significant tan head that dissipates slowly. Aroma is a malt with a nice amount of coffee. Taste is also coffee and malt that is fairly smooth.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
