13 oz. pour at the brewery. It pours a pretty, orange-amber color with almost a finger of foamy, eggshell-colored head and spotty lacing. Its nose is malty with notes of pine and tart citrus. The taste provides a nice balance of malty sweetness, grapefruit rind, resinous pine needles, and earthy but clean bitterness. I'd describe it as a "southern style" IPA: the malt sweetness battles the resinous bitterness without the citrus domination typical of a West Coast IPA. The mouth feel is full-bodied with an appropriate level of carbonation, and the 9.7% ABV is well hidden. Overall, I enjoyed this DIPA. Lion's Roar has a good recipe and has executed it well. With some practice, this could be a very good Imperial IPA.
