Incipient Stout

Appearance – Very dark, almost black in the body with a nice-looking head that was very tan and oatmealish.

Smell – The oatmeal aroma is huge here, nicely complimenting the maltish base. There’s also some balancing hops as well, giving this one a well-rounded nose.

Taste – I don’t know where the sourness came from, but it really spoiled this effort by Orchard Street. The roasted malt, oatmeal, and delicate hop balance was drowned out by the sour lemon flavors.

Mouthfeel – What’s the point? It’s medium-bodied and has too much carbonation, but it’s hard to gauge mouthfeel with your lips puckered.

Sinkability – Hopefully, this will end a string of bad, sorry ales. Next up is a proven entity. I can’t handle another “brewing surprise” tonight.
