Our base Barleywine was added to a New Riff bourbon barrel 4 days after being dumped and aged for 8 long months in the taproom. Picking up more alcohol, a bit of bourbon essence, and all the best parts of the oak, this beer is truly unique.

First pour into a snifter from a cold 22 ounce bottle dated 9/23/2020 and allowed to warm up to room temperature for review. The beer pours cola colored brown with light khaki head. The head recedes to a thin ring and leaves no lacing. The aroma is mild with caramel and hints of oaky bourbon. The taste is semisweet with dark fruit and richly toasted malt prominent at first before the barrel kicks in with subtle barrel strength bourbon heat, charred oak, vanilla and more bourbon. Moderate bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with less than medium carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, very good.
