Sacred Vice Brewing Co. “Last Look”
$5/10 oz. at the Amber St. location on 26 August 2023
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is a “German ale” brewed with Kölsch yeast and Saaz hops but it’s not really a Kölsch as it’s golden but quite hazy; it looks like a hefeweizen. I would call it a helles which is just a blanket style. The aroma displays sweetish and grainy malt with just a hint of spicy and herbal hops. They’re much stronger in the flavor though. The malt remains rich, and there’s a pleasant apple-like fruitiness to it. A firm bitterness keeps it in check and it’s nicely balanced. The body is medium and it's nicely crisp. If this was clear I think it would make a pretty good Köln-style beer.
