Drawn from a cask by hand pump, it was served in a nearly full clear pint glass. The off-white head is soft and tightly knit. Its color is brightly light golden-amber and it's fairly translucent. The aroma is modestly IPA-like, with hops and malt in balance, but not profoundly. Of course, as a casked and hand pumped serving it's not over-carbonated, so it goes down incredibly smoothly. It is a pleasure to drink, mainly for that reason. But, may not be bland, yet it isn't particularly tasty. It goes down so easily, chugging a pint would be no problem. In fairness, there is some hop and malt presence in good balance, but many an IPA lover will want a little more. There's plenty of glass lacing that proves the great body isn't just because of the means of delivery. A bit of a dry hoppy bite during the finish salvages the taste, making this a worthwhile try.
