Excellent brew from the brewery (up the street) in a snifter. This fine ale
pours a murky orange tinged brown with a modest head of off white foam that
subsides to a thin ring, subtle clumping layer, and shows faint lacing. Nose of
date, raisin, fig, subtle cherry, bourbon, oak, leather, tobacco, toffee, and rich
brown sugars. Flavors hit their mark with toffee, oak, bourbon, brown sugars,
figs, rich dates, raisin, faint pear, apple cider, tobacco hints, leather, vanilla, light
cherry, and lightly warming astringent booze. Nice mouth feel; medium body, light
to low carbonation, smooth, lightly coating, moderately rich, expansive notes with
warmth, and a warming medium dry finish.
Overall----WOW....one of the best barley wines I have had to date and made just
up the street....someone pinch me! What a great time to be alive...and they got
pizza!
Cheers
