Dunkel is a dark beer with a caramel aroma and chocolate flavor, with an exceptionally delicate bitterness and a thick head. Its secret lies in a rich blend of roasted malts, including Pilsner malt. Dunkel is an excellent accompaniment to heavier main courses based on red meat, as well as sweet chocolate desserts. It tastes best at a temperature of 6°C.

Międzyzdroje 18/7 2019. 0,5 cl bottle at Smazalnia Strzecha a fine little Beach side restaurant. Label looks like something from another epoch. Beer Barrel in gold with “DUNKEL” in very big letters.
Pours clear light brown with a big off-white head. Settles as 1 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Moderately intense aroma. Caramel, brown sugar, hints of very lightly roasted dark malts and nuts Light carbonation.
Soft, thin, oily, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium sweet followed by a moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish. Short-lived.
A very light dunkel. Sweet without being cloying. Could use a bit more roastiness.
