OK, I’ve never added a beer before...from the brewery:
10.1% ABV Trent is a non-oaked, stainless steel aged barleywine that compromises no complexity or depth of flavor. When we brewed this beer four months ago, we laid most of it to rest in Willett casks, anxious for the day when it will re-emerge. However, we found we loved this beer so much, we had to share it with you. Layers of strawberry jam, walnuts, and brown sugar swirl together in a deep and rich drink with a heavy mouthfeel and caramelized sweetness.
My notes: poured room temp to a tulip. Color is a nice deep copper. Very small sizzling head, that burns to scant lacing. The nose is subdued, with a little vanilla, some light char. For a drink with no oak, it seems very oak-forward. Perhaps it’s the Willett, or perhaps a flavor imparted by the stainless, the latter of which shouldn’t even be a thing, but... it has a nice mouthfeel, maybe a little more medium than my liking, but very appropriate for the style. Overall, there is a nice flavor, not quite vanilla and not quite caramel. The description talks about walnut and brown sugar, which could be the vibe I’m getting. It’s really a nice drink for this cool night by the fire...gone too soon! Thanks to a trade, I was lucky enough to score this great!
