Vernal Buzz is brewed with malted oats and a smattering of dark specialty malts that create a delectable base of milk chocolate, caramel and a smooth creaminess. We add lactose in the boil to accentuate the creaminess and condition this beer on Medium Roast Nicaragua Coffee roasted locally by Little Owl Coffee Roasters and Madagascar Vanilla to add notes of hazelnut, vanilla and caramel.

Look: Very dark brown with a medium brown head that has good retention.
Smell: Good. Vanilla, caramel, and maybe just a hint of anise?
Taste: Chocolate, caramel, very mocha-like but not cloying.
Feel: Excellent. Medium in the mouth and full bodied.
Overall: This is probably the best stout I’ve had this year. Very delicious and easy to drink.

Tasted nice coffee right up front with mild lactose and vanilla all mixed in. The aftertaste has a roasted malt ash flavor that lingers for a bit and it has a nice light/med mouthfeel. A pleasant surprise, will buy more.
