It's decent and it promises a lot but the taste just doesn't quite deliver. Pours cloudy mud gold with decent three finger head. On nose there is maltiness, banana and can't or bubblegum sweetness. Taste just doesn't live up to nose. Initially ok but lacks fullness and complexity. Decent without being memorable.

look: looks the part alright, only about a one finger head on the pour which quite quickly dissipates into a wafer-thin layer of bubbles, beer is very hazy, orange to straw in colour, lots of bubbles within, many stick to the glass.
smell: lots of spice, clove, vanilla, banana, getting some strawberry, little bit of bubblegum pretty sweet smelling, smells like an inviting wheat beer.
taste: actually very malty at first, rich earthy malt, but then gives way to those banana-y spicy wheat esters, not as sweet as i would anticipate, quite metallic on the finish, good but just lacking in the flavours that i was expecting, a little like fizzy water on the finish.
feel: light to medium bodied, highly carbonated, somewhat watery, little sticky.
overall: it started off very promisingly indeed, bit in truth just about missed the mark in the end, the helles is the far superior beer in Wicklow’s attempts at German style beers, still though, not a bad brew.
