330ml Bottle at Pacha Restaurant, Istanbul:
Light amber to yellow colour with a thumb sized head that soon settles as a patchy lacing.

Banana and clove to start with along with a little sweet yeast and wheat aromas. There is a touch of spice, some coriander and hints of orange as well as a little lemon too.

Banana and clove start things off with some coriander, a little orange and wheat plus all the regulars for the style. Not bad & quite refreshing.

Smooth with a light medium body, some fruits and a little spice. The beer is very easy to drink & is a refreshing one.

Nice wheat beer and better than I had been expecting going in. It is a very refreshing beer in the sun. It did go down easily and the taste wasn't bad either.

hazy golden color, yeast cloudiness, thick white foamy head settles slowly leaving thick lace clumps.

Typical hefe smell, belgian yeast, coriander, banana, grainy, lemon.

As the aroma suggests, grainy, over powering coriander, citrus, but overall weak.

High carbonation, light body

Not impressive at all, but could drink it if it is the only option.

Brown 33cl bottle, best before 19 Sept 2010, drank in my Turkish holiday hotel room mid July 2010.

Liked the regular banana and vanilla smells it gave off, just like a German brewed Hefeweizen.

The look was right too, an off white head sat on top of a murky, dirty orange body. The head left some heavy lacing on the glass, so the condition of the beer was also good.

The taste was semi-sour, grapefruity and a mix of other citrus fruits, lemon and lime I thought.

Not a bad attempt at a Hefeweizen at all.

Unassuming white and gold labelled bottle, with an image of windswept wheat.

Pours a dark buttery gold colour, deeply cloudy. Pretty decent loose bubbled foam head. Not a massive billowy hefe head, but very decenet all the same. A good looking beer.

Slightly peppery on the nose, with a faint hint of bubblegum sweetness, but not very much. There's an unfortunate aroma of bread yeast there too which doesn't help.

Hmm, to be honest, it has a pretty reasonable hefe flavour, but mightily subdued. Pretty sweet orange-citrus sort of character, but too bitter. It's a lot better than it might have been, but not a great example for the style.

Mouthfeel pretty good, not too carbonated.

Overall, a pretty good drop. A lot better than your average hefe knockoff wheat beer.

I got really excited when I saw this in a gas station and bought three bottles off the bat. I haven't seen it anywhere in Izmir, where I'm staying. And it turns out that's okay. Although I generally prefer hefeweizens to pilsners, this is a mediocre hefeweizen.

The head was large but shrank quickly, with cloudy yellow, and the smell is sort rough for a hefeweizen. The banana yeast is very prominent with some sweet corn underneath, and the taste is also very banana-like but fades quickly to corn, bubblegum and lemon. I kept thinking "where's the wheat" and indeed barley malt is listed before wheat on the label.

You might think it was a banana soda -- fizzy, watery, sweet, strangely gummy, in my opinion too light for the style -- if not for the aftertaste.

Still, it is a nice break from the monotony of Efes pilsners. (This trip has made me realized what a spoiled American drinker I am--and what a spoiled German drinker I'll be in a month!)

Still in Turkey still drinking beer made by Efes. Hey at least its a Hefe this time.

A: Pours a nice cloudy pale yellow hue. Small creamy white head that shows pretty good retention. Spotty lace as well.

S: Nice hefe aromas. Banana yeast, with light lemon and hints of bubblegum.

T: Not too bad to be honest. The best of the Efes so far. Bold banana up front that fades to bubblegum. Lemon grass with very very light notes of clove.

M: Light and zippy.

D: Not bad. So far the best beer in Turkey.

On my last trip to Turkey, I saw this in most of the Tekel shops, supermarkets, etc., and figured I needed to try it. This is ok, but about as good as I could expect for an apparently new hefeweizen from a large macro-brewery noted only for lagers (pilsner, basic pale lager, light lager, strong lager and malt liquor). I love Efes Pilsen, but this is a sub-par hefeweizen, bland and a it rough. However, it clearly has a hefeweizen character to it, which is more than I can say for some here in the US.

Dark, cloudy yellow, it has a big, creamy, off-white head, steadily shrinking to become more fizzy, dissipating to a fizzy ring.

The aroma is grain, banana, yeasty with a metallic hint, but with a definite, if rough, hefeweizen character.

The taste is similar. It's ok, a bit alcoholic, a bit sweet with vague elements of banana, grain, lemon, with definite hefeweizen character. However, it's a bit thin, weak, watery, and bland, with a faint hint of soapiness and a bit fizzy. It's not bad, but not great and whilst in Turkey I'll still stick to Efes Pilsen.

Cloudy yellow color with a white head and OK retention. Smell is slightly sour and has tons of creamed corn. The taste is decent, it has some of the creamed corn, but not powerful, it is mostly banana with a lemon finish. Medium carbonation and light body. Thanks to marchcow for the sample.
