Had Ferus's core IPA at the Ferus taproom, Trussville, Ala., on draft into Willi Becher.
Pours cloudy, deep gold with 1-finger near-white head, with excellent retention, pulling sketchy lace down the glass. Aromas of a little peach and more pear and some florals off pour, then orange aroma takes over, with lime and a little mild malt aroma joining as warms. On tasting, begins sweet pear and crisp grapefruit, with continuing crisp, mild wheat spice, then a long, drying, mildly tart, crisply citrus but still sweet pear finish.
I always bemoan the lack of 7 to 7.5 ABV IPAs, but then every time I try one I think, it could have been so much more. Still, my first beer from Ferus is a better than average core IPA.

Buffalo Wild Wings, Tuscaloosa, AL
22 oz. Draft
Pour is bright gold and only slightly hazy. Mild unobtrusive smell but definitely a piney IPA background. Initial taste has great mouth feel and a citrus note of lemon peel. Does not linger on the palate and has a clean, crisp finish. A nice IPA for beginners.

Great combo of hop citrus and slight malt backbone. This brew pub is legit. Wish they sold 12 oz cans. Everything is 16 oz for to go 4 paks

I don't know if my taste changed or the beer changed but the Ferus IPA is too sweet for me now. It used to be my favorite but I won't order it now.
