Draft at the Handlebar. Hazy golden pour, small silky white head, solid lacing. Malty aroma, toffee, citrus. Taste continues the carmelly malts, a bit more citrus pith and peel than in the aroma. Pretty malty for a fresh hop IPA.

fresh hop ipa, quite good, one of the better hoppy beers i have had from these guys, clear and loaded with wet hop goodness, maybe mosaic or citra, not sure what the varietals are, but you get all of that greenness in a good way in both aroma and flavor. like their solshine i had in the same session, this is both slightly more malty than it needs to be, and not super clean on the ferment, slightly estery, even with a chemical tinge as it warmed up a bit, not enough to make this unenjoyable, but enough to be distracting from the hoppy goodness, which makes this what it is even still. decent body, a honey thing to the grain, and finishing sweetness too, but the hops rule, a little green up front in a vegetal way, but then green like fresh and weedy, dank oiliness, lemon cleaner, sweet orange, canned pineapple, juicy papaya, even a little fleshy grapefruit, really good, more of this and less of the other aspects and they have it nailed. sticky in texture rightly, a little under carbonated though, and this ends up being close but not all the way there. good to see these guys getting a little more ambitious, but the quality on the ipa types isnt quite there yet unfortunately. neat use of local hops though.

edit: even better this year than last! more refined overall, the hops pop, and there is a dankness and drinkability together that is quite fantastic. increasing the score just a bit, really good this year!
